Greetings!!

I am Amy Naidoo and am very excited to start working at Cornel School. I am from a small town called Scottburgh in South Africa, I grew up next to the breach, which is my favorite place to go and relax. I have a Postgraduates degree in Sport Science, but I discovered my love of teaching when I taught ESL in South Korea. I then worked on getting my teaching license while teaching in China. I worked in China for 5 years in kindergarten and Elementary schools. I personally enjoy learning and growing as a teacher so my students always get the best from me.

My journey into teaching has always been about learning, growing and adapting, this is something that I enjoy instilling in the students I teach. My main aim is to always have a student-centred classroom, where students are able to be curious and explore. Having a space where students are able to use their natural curiosity to problem solve and help each other is very important to me as a teacher. It allows me to tailor and differentiate learning to meet the needs of the students. I enjoy inquiry-based learning as it allows students to be active participants in their learning. This combined with project-based learning helps to nurture students 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and perseverance. My teaching strategies are derived from IB learning as it focuses on encouraging the students to be creative and collaborative to solve real world problems.

I am really looking forward to living in Taiwan! I enjoy experiencing different cultures and learning as much as I can about my environment as possible. Every day I am learning about new and different places in Taiwan, and I am looking forward to visiting Jiufen and Turtle Island. There is so much that I am hoping to do and learn about and I hope that I get tons of recommendations so I can explore.

I am so grateful to be a part of the Cornel community and I hope that I can learn and grow to fit in with everyone in it. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

Best Wishes,

Amy
