Lindsay Bernsten

Qualification:

University of Maryland – Bachelors of Linguistics

Harvard University – Masters of Higher Education

My name is Lindsay Bernsten, and I am from Maryland in the United States.  I am very excited to be returning to the Cornel team for the third year.  Six years ago I left the US to teach English in Japan. I taught in Osaka for three years and loved it, so I returned to the U.S. to obtain my teaching license.   I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Harvard University.

I am so happy to be teaching Grade 1 and Basics this year.  I have taught students of all ages and skill levels before and enjoy them all.  I can’t wait to teach all of my new students.  I love that I’ve already had the chance to interact with so many of my future students in their current Kindy classes and at school events.

I believe that a classroom in which students feel confident to try new things is key to the learning experience, no matter what age.  We will celebrate our successes and learn from our mistakes! This involves building trusting relationships in the classroom as well as with students’ families.  I look forward to a fun and productive year of hands-on, student-centered learning.

On the personal side, some of my hobbies include traveling, photography, and learning Chinese conversation. I love exploring this beautiful island whenever I get the chance, and especially like to take trips to the gorgeous east coast.  If you have any travel tips, I’d love to hear them.
