Cornel International School Celebrates the Birthday of Renowned Author Dr. Seuss

Students participated in a variety of engaging events, including Reader’s Theater and a Reading Challenge, fostering a love for literature in a fun and interactive way. The week kicked off with Pajamas and Green Eggs & Ham Day, where students arrived in their coziest, cutest, or funniest pajamas — slippers included! Adding to the fun, both students and teachers got to enjoy actual Green Eggs and Ham — delicious snacks made from spinach-dyed eggs and ham. It was a tasty and memorable way to start the celebration.

As the week continued, Crazy Hat and Hair Day, students sporting their most outrageous hats and hairstyles, filling the school with laughter and creativity. The excitement carried over into Backwards Day, when students wore their clothes inside out, backward, or mismatched, embracing the silliness and fun that Dr. Seuss’s imaginative world inspires.

On Expressive Threads Day, students wore a plain Cornel and Dr. Seuss-themed T-shirt and invited classmates and teachers to write messages and doodle on them, turning their shirts into walking canvases of friendship and creativity. The week ended with Wild Dr. Seuss Day, where students dressed up in animal-themed outfits or as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters — from the Cat in the Hat to Thing 1 and Thing 2 — filling the campus with color, excitement, and creativity.

It was a week filled with joy, laughter, and a shared love for reading. The students’ creativity and enthusiasm truly brought Dr. Seuss’s stories to life.
