Cornel International School Dr.Seuss Birthday Celebration Week

Cornel always comes up with fun ways to get kids excited about reading English picture books. One of the biggest highlights of the year is our week-long celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Dr. Seuss is one of the most beloved children’s authors worldwide. Last week, we had a different theme every day, inviting the kids to dive into the magical worlds in his books.

On Monday, the kids wore pajamas and made Oobleck; on Tuesday, they dressed in our class color and recreated the school emblem. On Wacky Wednesday, everyone pulled out the most unusual clothes they could find—things they’d never wear to school! On Thursday, they got creative and came up with fun alternatives to their regular school bags, like children’s baskets, shopping carts, round buckets, square baskets, and even clothes pegs!

The most exciting part of the week was Friday’s Fashion Show. The kids dressed up as characters from Dr. Seuss’s books, and some even sported cool and quirky hairstyles!

This special week of activities always brings so much joy and laughter to both the kids and teachers. It’s a great way to spark creativity and bring Dr. Seuss’s world to life, all while encouraging a love of reading.
