Hello! My name is Lana Perez and I am coming from Denver, Colorado to teach at Cornel!
My background in education is that I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at the University of California Riverside and received my master’s degree in Childhood & Bilingual Education at Fordham University in New York. I have taught in both New York City and Denver ages 1st Grade through 4th Grade all subjects including math, science, social studies, reading and writing. I have also taught Spanish as an elective for elementary students. I’ve been teaching for 13 years and seek to continue to expand my experience with teaching abroad.
I aim to develop students into being passionate, responsible and caring global citizens who are critical thinkers, collaborative and curious in this ever-changing and connected world.I seek to create a classroom environment for students where they feel safe, welcomed and encouraged to take risks as they learn. In my practice, I hope to apply many strategies for language learning I have studied and used throughout my years in the classroom and see what amazing things students can learn. My main goals as a teacher are to make learning accessible and fun, to get to know students and to facilitate their growth throughout the year.
I love exploring nature and hiking, as well as staying active through activities like running, biking, rock climbing and kickboxing. Reading and playing music are some ways I like to relax and I always love to discover new foods and places. I look forward to exploring and learning about Taiwan and its culture as I begin my new journey!
