Ameen Beydoun
Qualification:
Wesleyan University-Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking and visual art
Hi there, I’m Ameen Beydoun and I am excited to be your foreign teacher this year!
I come from Queens, New York City but my family is originally from Lebanon. My journey into Taiwanese culture began right in my hometown, where I was first captivated by its rich culinary and arts scene.
I studied at Wesleyan University where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking and visual art. Post-graduation, I embarked on a transformative journey with the Peace Corps, teaching English and Mathematics in Liberia and the Comoros Islands. These experiences not only deepened my commitment to education but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for cultural diversity and community resilience.
Furthering my academic pursuits, I undertook dual master’s degrees in Education and Socially Impactful Business from Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Armed with this interdisciplinary knowledge, I’m driven to make meaningful contributions at the intersection of business and social development, empowering communities to thrive.
Over the past four years, I have created and published the Habibti Pada book series. The comic book is about a young African girl who immigrated to Lebanon where she faces off against a new culture, a new language, and new monsters from Arab mythology.
In my approach to education, I advocate for project-based, interdisciplinary, and student-centered learning. I believe in creating dynamic learning environments where students are encouraged to explore their interests, collaborate with peers, and apply critical thinking skills to real-world challenges. My classroom is a space where curiosity is nurtured, creativity is celebrated, and every voice is heard.
Beyond teaching, my interests span a wide spectrum of activities. I am very excited to explore the arts and film scene in Taichung. I’m also a big outdoorsman and look forward to surfing, spearfishing and rock-climbing on the eastern coast of Taiwan.
Looking forward to meeting you and working with you this coming school year!
